These exams are conducted by multiple organizations, the Indian Talent Olympiad being one of the well-established among them. The aim of conducting these examinations is to promote Science, Mathematics, Computer education and English skills among children of all age groups. The syllabus for International Maths Olympiad is divided into four sections for each class, starting from class 1st to class 10th. The question papers are set according to the curriculum of the respective class. The questions from different Mathematics chapters are categorized into Logical Reasoning, Mathematical Reasoning, Everyday Mathematics, and Achievers Section. The syllabus of ICSE/ISC, CBSE, and State Board are followed for designing the question papers of the respective classes.Up to class 5th, Section 1 contains questions related to Patterns, classifications, analogies etc. Class 6th onwards, it contains questions related to Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. After clearing IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad), students receive gold, silver and bronze medals with a cash prize of Rs. 50000/-, Rs. 25000/- and Rs. 10000/- respectively, along with certificates and wide recognition.
Students from classes 1st to 12th can participate in the Olympiad. Interested students who want to apply may contact their school because the registration forms are accepted through schools only.
The selection process consists of four stages: However, the programme itself is of six stages.Stage 1 or Indian Olympiad Qualifiers in Mathematics: This section comprises 24 problems to be solved in 3 hours. Stage 2 or Indian National Mathematical Olympiad: This paper comprises six problems to be solved over four hours. The top students from the INMO (approximately 35) are invited for the fourth stage.Stage 3 or International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp: Held at HBCSE from April to May, this camp is provided to students by resource persons from different institutions across the country. Several selection tests are held during this camp. Based on the performance in these tests, six students are selected to represent India at the IMO.Stage 4 or IMO: The Olympiad program culminates with the participation of the students in the IMO. 4 teachers or mentors accompany the students.
